CATL Unveils Third-Generation Shenxing Ultra-Fast Charging Battery
[Technical Breakthrough] CATL has launched its third-generation Shenxing ultra-fast charging battery, capable of charging from 10% to 98% state of charge (SOC) in just 6 minutes and 27 seconds.
Core Development: Charging Speed Sets New Industry Record
Achieving a 10% to 98% SOC charge in 6 minutes and 27 seconds, the battery delivers an equivalent 10C and peak 15C charge rate, significantly outperforming BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery in fast-charging capability. Key technologies include the world’s lowest internal resistance (0.25 milliohms), SEI gene-directed editing, expanded graphite technology, and a cell shoulder cooling system enabling millisecond-level thermal control.
Strategic Foundation: Balancing Ultra-Fast Charging and Longevity
After 1,000 charge cycles, the battery retains over 90% of its original capacity, effectively solving the long-standing issue that fast charging degrades battery health. CATL emphasizes that the essence of ultra-fast charging lies in temperature rise management—not merely chasing speed.
Industry Impact: Energy Replenishment Battle Evolves into Infrastructure Competition
Although BYD has already initiated its 'Flash Charge China' station deployment plan, CATL announced that its new battery will enter mass production and be installed in vehicles starting in Q4 2026. The next battleground will center on coordinated deployment of energy replenishment networks.
