CATL Unveils Third-Generation Shenxing Ultra-Fast Charging Battery

[Technical Breakthrough] CATL has launched its third-generation Shenxing ultra-fast charging battery, capable of achieving a full charge in just 6 minutes, with sodium-ion batteries scheduled for mass production in Q4.

Core Developments: 6-Minute Full Charge and 1,500 km Range Redefine Ultra-Fast Charging Standards

The third-generation Shenxing ultra-fast charging battery can charge from 10% to 98% state of charge (SOC) in only 6 minutes and 27 seconds. Even under extreme cold conditions of -30°C, it achieves 20% to 98% SOC in just over 9 minutes. With an internal resistance as low as 0.25 mΩ—50% lower than the industry average—it effectively suppresses temperature rise and ensures extended battery lifespan.

Key Metrics: Nearly 50% Market Share, Global Reach Across 150+ Countries

As of February 2026, 25.84 million new energy vehicles equipped with CATL batteries have been deployed globally. In Q1 2026, CATL held a domestic market share of 47.7%, serving over 150 countries and 176 automotive brands.

Strategic Foundation: Dual Lithium-Sodium Approach for Full-Scenario Coverage

The company is simultaneously advancing mass production of sodium-ion batteries in Q4, complementing its Qilin battery—which delivers a range exceeding 1,000 km and an energy density of 280 Wh/kg—alongside self-heating technology. This integrated strategy enables comprehensive coverage across ultra-fast charging, long-range driving, and extreme cold-weather applications.
