[Technological Breakthrough] BYD has launched its second-generation Blade Battery along with 1,500 kW flash charging technology, achieving a 97% charge in just 9 minutes.

Core Development: Range Anxiety May Soon Be a Thing of the Past

On March 5, 2026, BYD unveiled its second-generation Blade Battery in Shenzhen, capable of charging to 70% in 5 minutes and 97% in 9 minutes. Even in low-temperature conditions (-30°C), charging takes only 3 minutes longer than under normal temperatures. Wang Chuanfu stated, “No one understands batteries better than we do,” emphasizing that the technology is ready for full-scale mass production.

Key Metrics: Infrastructure Deployment Underway

BYD plans to build 20,000 flash charging stations by the end of 2026, each featuring a single-charger power output of 1,500 kW—far surpassing current mainstream standards—to directly address user pain points in energy replenishment.

Strategic Foundation: From Safety to Ultimate Efficiency

The first-generation Blade Battery redefined the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) market with its nail penetration safety performance. The second generation maintains this safety benchmark while focusing on ultra-fast charging and all-climate adaptability, ushering the industry into an era of “unconditional fast charging.”
