Five Ministries Launch 2026 New Energy Vehicle Rural Promotion Campaign

[Policy Implementation] The 2026 New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Rural Promotion Campaign has officially commenced, with 155 vehicle models included in the recommended catalog.

Key Developments: 155 Compliant Models Eligible for National Subsidies

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and four other ministries jointly issued a notice specifying that the 2026 NEV Rural Promotion Campaign will center on the theme of “green, low-carbon, intelligent, and safe” mobility. A total of 155 models have been selected based on their suitability for rural usage and proven reliability. Participating models are eligible for叠加享受 (combined benefits), including purchase tax and vehicle-and-vessel tax reductions, as well as trade-in subsidies, with no quota restrictions.

Strategic Foundation: Building an End-to-End Service Ecosystem for Rural Areas

The campaign will drive coordinated deployment of sales outlets, maintenance and repair enterprises, charging and battery-swap service providers, and financial and insurance institutions into rural regions. This initiative aims to address gaps in county-level charging and swapping infrastructure and enhance the full-lifecycle support environment for NEVs in rural areas. Since its inception in 2020, the rural promotion campaign has cumulatively promoted over 500 vehicle models.
