Zhang Yongwei: Going Global in Charging and Battery-Swapping Industry Emerges as a New Blue Ocean

[Infrastructure] Zhang Yongwei pointed out that the coordinated global expansion of automobiles and charging/battery-swapping systems has become an irreversible trend.

Core Trend: Charging and Battery Swapping Is Becoming an Independent, Profitable Foundational Industry

At the Second Forum on Vehicle-Energy Integration and Smart Ecosystem Development, Zhang Yongwei emphasized that charging and battery swapping is no longer merely a supporting service for vehicles but has evolved into a foundational industry with independent operational capabilities. He noted that China’s automotive globalization has taken shape through three key pathways: vehicle and component manufacturing, aftermarket services, and charging and battery-swapping infrastructure.

Key Data: Auto Exports Projected to Reach 11 Million Units by 2026

According to forecasts, China’s automobile exports will surpass 10 million units in 2026, reaching a record high of 11 million units. As global electrification accelerates, charging and battery-swapping infrastructure is entering a golden era of international expansion. In the past, the separation between energy and automotive sectors hindered the adoption of integrated models—such as “new energy vehicles + photovoltaics”—due to insufficient economic viability. Moving forward, coordinated development will be essential to enable large-scale implementation.
