Xiaomi Invests in Battery Plant Racing Toward Production
[Capacity Construction] Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited's (CATL) first battery base in North China will commence production within 2026.
Core Development: Xiaomi Deepens Supply Chain Integration
The Beijing Yizhuang battery factory, jointly invested with RMB 4 billion by CATL (51%), BAIC (39%), Jingneng (5%), and Xiaomi Auto (5%), has entered the equipment installation and intensive hiring phase. The project entity, "Times BAIC (Beijing) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.," received its first core piece of equipment on January 21, and has scheduled 12 recruitment days in March to rapidly build its frontline production team.
Key Metrics: 15GWh Annual Capacity Established in North China
The plant is designed for an annual capacity of 15GWh, positioned as a "lighthouse + zero-carbon" smart factory featuring highly automated and flexible production lines. It will serve Xiaomi Auto and other vehicle manufacturers in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, strengthening localized battery supply capabilities.
Strategic Foundation: Autonomous Control + Green Manufacturing
As CATL’s first production base in North China, the project integrates zero-carbon principles with industrial chain collaboration, highlighting Xiaomi’s strategic intent to extend from whole vehicles into core components.
