SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle and SAIC-GM Both Appoint New CEOs

[Personnel Changes] On July 28, SAIC Group simultaneously reshuffled the leadership of its two core vehicle business segments, appointing technology-focused executives Lu Xiao and Xu Ping to lead its domestic brand and joint venture operations, respectively.

Key Development: Technology-Oriented Executives Driving Intelligent-EV Transformation

Lu Xiao has succeeded Wang Jun as General Manager of SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company. He will inject his expertise in product definition and technology integration, honed during his tenure at SAIC-GM, into the Roewe and MG brands. Previously, he served as the first Chinese Chief Engineer of a global GM platform and assumed leadership of SAIC-GM in August 2024, achieving annual sales of 562,000 vehicles in 2025 and delivering profitability for five consecutive quarters.

Strategic Foundation: Strengthening End-to-End Technological Control

Xu Ping, who takes over as General Manager of SAIC-GM, has been deeply involved in the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) and SAIC-GM R&D systems since 1998. Prior to this appointment, he served as General Manager of Huayu Automotive Systems, bringing comprehensive experience spanning product development, overseas operations, and supply chain management. He is expected to accelerate the intelligent-electric transformation and profitability recovery of the joint venture segment.
