NIO Files Police Report to Combat False Promotions
[Corporate Rights Protection] NIO has filed a police report regarding false promotional activities and online infringement, leading authorities to impose criminal coercive measures on multiple suspects.
Key Development: Fabricated Promotional Scripts Used to Obtain User Information
On July 3, NIO’s Legal Department announced that certain accounts on Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book) had long been publishing false promotional information about NIO’s various brands, luring consumers into submitting their personal details and thereby illegally acquiring user information. NIO has officially reported the matter to the police, and public security authorities have intervened, with multiple suspects now subjected to criminal coercive measures or administrative penalties.
Strategic Foundation: Reinforcing Direct Sales Model and User Protection
NIO emphasized its adoption of a direct-sales model and clarified it has not authorized any third-party sales channels. The company urged users not to trust unofficial sources to avoid personal information leaks and financial losses.
Industry Impact: Judicial Rulings Intensify Penalties for Online Infringement
The court issued a second-instance ruling against Dong Bin, owner of the account “BelieveDB”, who, since 2023, continuously published defamatory content. He was ordered to extend his public apology period and increase compensation payments. Another account, “Uncle Deng Talks Cars,” was also legally sanctioned for fabricating facts and tarnishing the brand’s reputation.
