New Energy Vehicle Makers See Collective Sales Recovery in March

[Market Update] Multiple new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturers reported year-over-year and month-over-month sales growth in March, with BYD leading the pack by selling over 300,000 units.

Key Figures: BYD Tops Monthly Sales; NIO Doubles Year-Against-Year Deliveries

BYD sold 300,222 vehicles in March, firmly securing the top spot among Chinese automakers, including 119,591 units exported overseas. NIO delivered 35,486 vehicles, a 136% year-over-year increase. Li Auto delivered 41,053 units, while Leapmotor reached 50,029 units. Xiaomi Auto surpassed 20,000 deliveries in its first full month of sales.

Industry Impact: NEV Penetration Nears 53%

The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) estimates March retail sales of passenger cars (excluding minivans) at 1.7 million units, with NEVs accounting for approximately 52.9%. Market enthusiasm has rebounded due to multiple new model launches and technology rollouts (such as BYD’s “Flash Charging”), though actual delivery increases will take time to materialize.
