Sales of Mini and Micro Electric Vehicles Plunge Sharply

Strategic Foundation: Subsidy Mechanism Reform Erodes Price Advantage

By the end of 2025, new energy vehicle subsidies will shift to a fixed-amount system—RMB 15,000 for trade-in subsidies and RMB 20,000 for scrappage subsidies. For mini and micro models priced between RMB 30,000 and RMB 40,000, subsidies previously accounted for a large portion of the price; after the phase-out, their cost-performance advantage has vanished.

Consumer demand is shifting toward longer range and more spacious vehicles. Mini and micro EVs struggle to meet the new roles of either a second family car or a primary commuter vehicle, completely reversing their previous growth logic.
