Strategic Foundation: Moving Beyond the "Assembly Hub" Label to Drive Local Innovation
The project was jointly developed by the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico and the National Institute of Technology, coordinated by the Ministry of Science and Technology, with over 80 researchers involved. President Sheinbaum emphasized, "Mexico is not only capable of assembly—it can also innovate." This initiative aims to transform Mexico’s status as the world’s seventh-largest automobile producer, which has long lacked indigenous automotive technology and brands.
