Core Development: Li Liyun Enters the Embodied Intelligence Arena

Li Liyun previously served as Vice President of XPeng Motors and Head of the Autonomous Driving Center. He holds academic degrees from Tsinghua University and New York University and was involved in Baidu’s pioneering autonomous vehicle project. He will now join Zhongqing Robotics (EngineAI), founded by Zhao Tongyang, which focuses on humanoid robot development.

Key Metrics: Valuation Exceeds RMB 10 Billion, Secures USD 200 Million in Series B Funding

Zhongqing Robotics was established in October 2023 and announced in April this year that it closed a USD 200 million Series B funding round, pushing its valuation beyond RMB 10 billion. The company plans to list in Hong Kong. Founder Zhao Tongyang previously launched Duogou Robotics, which was acquired by XPeng in 2020; they later co-founded PX Intelligent Mobility.

Strategic Insight: Autonomous Driving Talent Accelerates Shift Toward Robotics

Following the migration of multiple autonomous driving experts into embodied intelligence, Li Liyun’s move underscores the convergence of technological pathways across industries and reflects sustained capital investment in the humanoid robotics sector.
