Li Auto Establishes Three New Embodied Intelligence Departments

[Technical Architecture] Li Auto's Foundation Model Division has added three new embodied intelligence sub-departments.

Core Development: Embodied Intelligence Becomes Strategic Priority

According to exclusive information obtained by LatePost Auto, on May 29, Li Auto restructured its Foundation Model Division, establishing three new sub-departments: Embodied Engineering, Embodied Interaction, and Embodied Behavior. Simultaneously, the Autonomous Driving team was elevated to an independent sub-department. These three new departments operate alongside Autonomous Driving, all directly managed by Foundation Model Division head Zhan Kun and reporting to CTO Xie Yan.

Strategic Foundation: Dual Focus on AI and Robotics

This marks Li Auto’s second organizational adjustment in 2026 related to intelligence. On February 14 of this year, the company had already restructured its intelligent systems into three major teams: Humanoid Robotics, Software Entity, and Foundation Model. CEO Li Xiang previously emphasized that autonomous driving represents the "first half" of robotics, while humanoid robots constitute the "second half." The company has since repositioned its brand around "embodied intelligence," moving beyond its earlier identity as merely a "mobile home."
