[Policy Update] The Inter-Ministerial Joint Conference on New Energy Vehicles has outlined key priorities for 2026 and advanced the drafting of the '15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Intelligent, Connected, and New Energy Vehicle Industry.'

Key Achievements: 14th Five-Year Plan Outcomes Exceed Expectations

China's new energy vehicle (NEV) market size has grown by 3.6 times, and automotive exports have risen to rank first globally. The cost per unit of power batteries has decreased by 30%, service life has increased by 40%, and charging speed has improved by more than threefold.

Strategic Foundation: Strengthening Industrial Chains and Planning Leadership

The conference emphasized that 2026, as the inaugural year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, must adhere to a problem-oriented and systems-based approach, enhance the self-reliance and controllability of industrial and supply chains, and expand automobile consumption. Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng chaired the meeting and called for accelerating the formulation of the Plan while reinforcing coordination with sectors such as energy and infrastructure.
