Hydrogen Energy Pilot Programs Launched with Up to RMB 1.6 Billion in Rewards

[Policy Incentives] Three ministries jointly issued a notice on comprehensive hydrogen energy application pilot programs, offering rewards of up to RMB 1.6 billion and outlining a clear commercialization roadmap for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles over the next five years.

Core Development: Industry Reaches Scale Tipping Point

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) stated that China's hydrogen energy industry has achieved a breakthrough "from zero to one" and is now crossing the techno-economic inflection point. By the end of 2025, cumulative sales of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will reach nearly 40,000 units, with 574 hydrogen refueling stations built nationwide, delivering a total refueling capacity exceeding 360 tons per day—ranking first globally.

Key Metrics: Dual Drivers of Incentives and Infrastructure

Pilot city clusters are eligible for rewards of up to RMB 1.6 billion, accelerating the deployment of green hydrogen across diverse sectors including transportation, metallurgy, and chemicals. Projects such as ten-thousand-ton-scale green hydrogen production, hundred-thousand-ton-scale green ammonia/methanol synthesis, and million-ton-scale hydrogen-based metallurgy have already entered operation.

Strategic Foundation: Overcoming Application Bottlenecks

Despite significant progress, the hydrogen sector still faces challenges, particularly insufficient application scenarios. This pilot initiative aims to leverage policy support to rapidly establish replicable commercial models, paving the way for explosive growth during the upcoming 'Fifteenth Five-Year Plan' period.
