GAC Aion and CALB Jointly Address Battery Failures with Extended Warranty and Direct Maintenance Support

[Supply Chain Incident] GAC Aion and CALB have jointly launched a warranty and maintenance program in response to battery failures affecting AION S fleet vehicles.

Core Initiative: Dual Coverage with 8-Year/300,000-km Warranty and Direct Maintenance Support

On July 18, 2026, GAC Aion announced an extension of the battery warranty for fleet-version AION S vehicles equipped with CALB’s 177Ah LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries and having exceeded 150,000 kilometers of mileage. The warranty coverage is now extended from 8 years or 150,000 kilometers to 8 years or 300,000 kilometers. Additionally, GAC Aion will enhance remote monitoring capabilities and proactively invite owners for free inspections and repairs upon detecting anomalies. Owners whose vehicles require more than 5 days of repair time will receive operational subsidies.

Strategic Shift: Battery Supplier Engages End Users Directly for the First Time

On the same day, CALB issued a rare public notice allowing vehicle owners to visit its service centers directly for free diagnostics and repairs—breaking from the traditional practice where such services were exclusively handled through OEMs. This move highlights a growing trend of supply chain accountability shifting closer to end users.
