Chuneng New Energy Signs Agreement for Wuhan Phase II 80GWh Battery Project
[Major Project] Chuneng New Energy has signed an agreement with the Wuhan municipal government for its Phase II 80GWh battery project, with a total investment of RMB 22 billion.
Core Development: RMB 22 Billion Investment Strengthens Wuhan’s New Energy Industrial Chain
Chuneng New Energy officially signed the Phase II project agreement with Wuhan on February 8. Located in Jiangxia District, the project is designed for an annual production capacity of 80GWh, focusing on high energy density and long cycle life battery technologies, with production expected to commence in Q1 2027.
Key Metrics: Annual Output Value of RMB 24 Billion, 6,000 Jobs Created
Upon full operation, the project is projected to generate an annual output value of approximately RMB 24 billion and create 6,000 jobs, further driving the formation of a new energy “Golden Triangle” production layout among Wuhan, Xiaogan, and Yichang.
Strategic Foundation: Deep Roots in Hubei, Extending and Strengthening the Industrial Chain
Chuneng has already planned over 500GWh of production capacity across Hubei. This latest expansion in Wuhan aims to leverage local talent and innovation ecosystems to enhance synergies across the industrial chain in power batteries, energy storage systems, and intelligent connected vehicles.
