Chinese Brand Passenger Vehicles Reach 75% Market Share

[Market Share] In April, Chinese brand passenger vehicles accounted for 75% of the total market, setting a new historical record.

Key Data: Market Share Surpasses Three-Quarters

A 75% market share signifies the further consolidation of Chinese brands' dominant position in the passenger vehicle segment. Total passenger vehicle sales in April reached 2.129 million units, with Chinese brands contributing over 1.597 million units. Despite a year-over-year decline of 4.2% in overall passenger vehicle sales, Chinese brands continued to gain ground.

Strategic Foundation: Dual Drivers of NEVs and Policy Support

Chen Shihua, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), noted that although the marginal impact of policies such as purchase tax exemptions for new energy vehicles (NEVs) is diminishing, Chinese brands are steadily capturing market share from joint ventures by leveraging their advantages in NEV transformation and enhanced product competitiveness, thereby driving consistent growth in market share.
