China's Total Charging Infrastructure Surpasses 21 Million
[Infrastructure] As of the end of February 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging facilities nationwide reached 21.01 million, an increase of 47.8% year-over-year.
Key Data: Private Charger Growth Significantly Outpaces Public Chargers
As of the end of February, private charging facilities totaled 16.176 million, surging 54.6% year-over-year, while public charging facilities reached 4.834 million, up 28.8% year-over-year. The total rated power capacity of public chargers amounted to 229 million kilowatts, with an average power output of approximately 47.41 kilowatts per charger. The installed electrical capacity for private chargers reached 141 million kVA.
Strategic Foundation: Rapid Expansion of Recharging Networks Aligns with Electrification Adoption
Private chargers account for more than 70% of the total, reflecting that home charging remains the dominant method for energy replenishment. Meanwhile, the public fast-charging network continues to expand, supporting both urban and long-distance travel needs. Overall infrastructure growth significantly outpaces the growth rate of new energy vehicle sales, highlighting the effectiveness of dual drivers—policy support and market demand.
