China's Charging Infrastructure Exceeds 20 Million Units
[Infrastructure] As of the end of December 2025, the total number of charging infrastructure units (charging guns) nationwide reached 20.092 million, an increase of 49.7% year-on-year, supporting over 40 million new energy vehicles.
Key Trend: Accelerated Growth in Scale
The increase from 10 million to 20 million units took only 18 months, significantly faster than in previous phases. Private charging facilities accounted for 15.375 million units (+56.2%), while public facilities totaled 4.717 million units (+31.9%).
Key Metrics: Dual Improvement in Efficiency and Coverage
The average power output of public charging piles rose to 46.53 kW, representing a 33% year-on-year improvement in charging efficiency. Charging pile coverage in highway service areas exceeded 98%, and 19 provinces achieved full coverage at the township level.
Strategic Foundation: Policy-Driven Three-Year Doubling Plan
In September 2025, six government departments jointly issued the "Three-Year Doubling Action Plan for Charging Infrastructure Service Capacity (2025–2027)", clearly outlining development goals and implementation pathways for the next phase.
