[Technological Breakthrough] Changan and CATL have jointly launched the world's first mass-produced passenger vehicle powered by sodium-ion batteries.

Core Development: Sodium-Ion Batteries Enter Large-Scale Application

The vehicle has completed winter calibration testing in Yakeshi, achieving over 90% capacity retention at -40°C, discharge power at -30°C nearly triple that of LFP batteries, and stable discharge capability even in extreme conditions as low as -50°C.

Key Metrics: Leading Performance and Safety

Equipped with CATL’s sodium-ion battery cells delivering 175 Wh/kg and third-generation CTP technology, the vehicle offers a pure electric range exceeding 400 km. Even after destructive tests such as sawing and nail penetration while fully charged, it neither catches fire nor explodes, with thermal runaway occurring only above 500°C.

Strategic Foundation: Full Brand Coverage + Battery Swap Synergy

By 2026, Changan’s brands—including Avatr, Deepal, and Qiyuan—will all adopt sodium-ion batteries. Meanwhile, CATL is concurrently building 3,000 'ChocoSwap' battery swap stations, with 600 prioritized for deployment in cold northern regions.
