XPeng Establishes Robotaxi Business Unit to Accelerate L4 Autonomous Commercialization

[Company News] XPeng Motors has officially established a Robotaxi Business Unit to accelerate the commercialization of Level 4 autonomous driving.

Core Development: New Department Coordinates End-to-End Resources

The Robotaxi Business Unit will oversee product definition, R&D testing, and operations. Adopting a lightweight organizational model, it integrates resources across autonomous driving, vehicle manufacturing, and mobility services to drive the deployment of factory-installed mass-produced vehicles, moving away from traditional retrofit approaches.

Key Milestones: Trial Operations to Begin in 2026

XPeng plans to launch passenger-carrying pilot operations with safety drivers in the second half of 2025, transition to driverless operations by early 2026, and roll out three global Robotaxi models in 2026. The GX Robotaxi, powered by the second-generation VLA large model, has already received road-testing approval in Guangzhou and is currently undergoing routine L4 testing.

Strategic Foundation: Full-Stack Technology Enables Physical AI

Leveraging its self-developed Turing AI chip, second-generation VLA large model, and end-to-end autonomous driving system, XPeng has built a unified intelligent foundation to provide core technological support for Robotaxi operations and intends to open this technology stack to partners.
