XPeng Takes Control of EV Factory in Indonesia

[Overseas Expansion] XPeng has completed the acquisition of a 90.1% stake in Indonesia's EIDO, becoming the first Chinese EV startup to secure majority control over manufacturing operations in Southeast Asia.

Core Development: First Overseas Production Base Established in Indonesia

On May 13, 2026, XPeng International Holdings (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. officially took control of Indonesia’s PT Era Industri Otomotif (EIDO), acquiring its electric vehicle plant located in Purwakarta, West Java Province. The facility operates under a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) model with a monthly production capacity of approximately 800 units.

Strategic Foundation: Transitioning from Contract Manufacturing to Asset-Heavy Global Expansion

Following its market entry into Indonesia in March 2025 through a partnership with ERAL, XPeng has now upgraded its overseas strategy—from 'sailing on others’ ships' to 'building its own vessels'—by taking ownership of the factory, thereby avoiding the steep 40% import tariff on fully built vehicles.

Key Metrics: Localization Efforts Show Early Success

The first locally assembled model, the XPeng X9, rolled off the production line in July 2025; recently, 100 units of the G6 have already been delivered, and wholesale deliveries of the G6 Pro have surpassed 300 units.
