[New Product Approval] Xiaomi Auto has officially received approval to produce extended-range electric passenger vehicles.
Core Development: First Extended-Range SUV on Kunlun Platform Set for Mass Production
According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's (MIIT) Batch 408 announcement, Xiaomi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. was approved on June 10, 2026, to add extended-range electric passenger vehicle models to its production portfolio. The production site is the Beijing Yizhuang factory (No. 21 Huanjing Road), indicating that the production line retrofitting has been completed.
Key Specifications: CLTC All-Electric Range Exceeds 400 km, Total Range Surpasses 1,000 km
The new vehicle belongs to the "Kunlun" platform series, positioned as a mid-to-large or full-size SUV, with an overall length exceeding 5.2 meters and a wheelbase of approximately 3.1 meters. It will be offered in both 6- and 7-seat configurations. Powered by a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder range extender and a large-capacity battery pack, the vehicle achieves a CLTC all-electric range exceeding 400 km and a combined full-tank/full-battery range surpassing 1,000 km, while also supporting high-voltage fast charging.
Strategic Shift: Transitioning from Single-Product Breakthrough to Platform-Based Portfolio Expansion
Previously focused on deliveries of the SU7, Xiaomi is now leveraging extended-range technology to enter the family SUV market, marking a strategic shift from a "single-point breakthrough" approach to a "multi-pronged advancement" product strategy.
