Key Developments: Song Gang Returns to Manufacturing Roots, Yu Liguo Leads Overseas Expansion

Song Gang now oversees the Production Manufacturing Department, Intelligent Manufacturing Department, and Systems Operations Department, reporting directly to Lei Jun, while continuing to serve as Chief of Staff for the Automotive Division. He previously served as Plant Manager of Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai, led the construction of a utility-scale energy storage factory, joined Envision Energy in 2024, and officially joined Xiaomi in April 2025.

Yu Liguo has taken on the additional role of Head of the Overseas Business Preparatory Task Force, marking the official launch of Xiaomi Auto’s global strategy. He was already responsible for product definition and management of the Beijing headquarters and formerly served as President of BAIC Arcfox Business Unit.

Strategic Foundation: Domestic Deliveries Take Priority; Global Launch Targeted for 2027

In a live stream in July 2025, Lei Jun explicitly stated that Xiaomi Auto will not consider overseas expansion until 2027, with Germany as the first international market. The current focus remains squarely on resolving domestic production capacity and delivery challenges.
