Porsche to Halt Production of Combustion-Powered Macan This Summer

[Product Iteration] Porsche has confirmed that the combustion-powered Macan will cease production in summer 2026.

Core Development: Electric Successor Takes Over After ICE Discontinuation

Porsche CFO Jochen Breckner clearly stated during the Q1 earnings call that the combustion-powered Macan will officially end production at the Leipzig plant in summer 2026. Sales in the European market were already discontinued in 2024, while inventory sales in markets such as China will continue until 2027.

Strategic Rationale: Aggressive Electrification Meets Real-World Headwinds

Former CEO Oliver Blume admitted that the strategy of fully transitioning to the all-electric Macan was "too aggressive" and constituted a significant misjudgment of the market. Although the electric version has performed reasonably well, it has failed to fully fill the sales gap left by the combustion model in key markets like China and the United States.

Industry Impact: Delivery Momentum Extends Into 2027

Breckner noted that the primary reason for discontinuation is not production capacity but supplier component constraints. Sales will not drop to zero immediately after production ends; new vehicles from existing inventory may still be delivered in certain markets as late as 2027, though overall sales volume will enter a downward trajectory.
