[Product Recall] Nissan is recalling over 640,000 Rogue SUVs in the United States due to potential issues with the engine and throttle body.

Core Development: 642,986 Rogues recalled in two batches

The recall affects 2023–2025 model year vehicles equipped with the 1.5L three-cylinder VC-Turbo engine. Of these, 319,000 units are being recalled due to a risk of electronic throttle body gear fracture, and 324,000 units due to a potential engine bearing wear issue.

Key Data: Both defects could lead to power loss or fire

The first issue involves certain ECM software configurations that may cause gear fracture during diagnostics, resulting in loss of propulsion while driving. The second stems from high-temperature engine oil losing lubricity, which can cause bearing seizure and potentially lead to engine fire.

Strategic Insight: Reliability of ICE systems challenged for legacy automakers

Following a domestic recall of 29,600 vehicles in February 2026 due to cooling system defects, this large-scale recall once again exposes Nissan's shortcomings in quality control for complex powertrain systems, highlighting the urgent need to adopt reliability management practices from leading new-energy vehicle makers.
