NIO ES9 Hidden Door Handle Compliance Response

[Technical Compliance] The NIO ES9 continues to feature hidden door handles, and the company has confirmed that the design fully complies with the transitional requirements of the new national standard.

Key Development: Hidden Door Handles Remain Legal Until End of 2028

NIO stated that under the new regulations, newly announced models before December 31, 2027, and current or updated models produced before December 31, 2028, may continue to use hidden door handles.

Safety Redundancy: Triple Mechanism Ensures Emergency Door Opening

In the event of a collision, the system automatically unlocks and deploys the handles; if this fails, users can manually open the door via a mechanical structure; additionally, each door inside the vehicle has a glow-in-the-dark emergency pull handle located under the floor mat. Power is supplied by a dual low-voltage battery redundancy system to ensure functionality even in extreme conditions.

Feature Enhancement: Optimized for Aerodynamics and User Experience

The ES9’s door handles support welcome lighting upon approach, remote ice-breaking via the mobile app, and touch-to-unlock functionality, complemented by power-assisted soft-close doors for enhanced elegance and practicality.
