MIIT focused its review on the companies’ capabilities in intelligent connected vehicle safety assurance, design and development, and production consistency. Randomly selected vehicles and traction batteries were taken for testing. On the same day, XPeng filed a recall notice for 33,473 units of its X9 model (produced between August 8, 2023, and August 11, 2025), effective starting August 28, 2026.
