Mercedes-Benz China Recalls Over 26,000 S-Class and E-Class Vehicles Over Drive Shaft Safety Risk
[Product Recall] Mercedes-Benz China has issued a recall of over 26,000 imported S-Class and domestically produced E-Class vehicles due to a potential defect in the front drive shaft.
Key Development: 25,595 Mercedes-Benz vehicles recalled due to drive shaft defect
Mercedes-Benz (China) will initiate a recall on December 2, 2026, affecting 24,832 imported S-Class vehicles manufactured between October 2017 and December 2019. Simultaneously, Beijing Benz will recall 763 domestically produced E-Class vehicles from the same period. The affected vehicles have front drive shaft universal joints with insufficient hardness, which could lead to fracture after prolonged use and result in a loss of drive power.
Strategic Action: Free replacement of improved components to eliminate safety risks
Both companies will, through authorized dealers, replace the front drive shafts with improved parts free of charge for all recalled vehicles to ensure driving safety and fulfill their corporate responsibilities.
