Lexus LC Series to Discontinue in 2026, Ending V8 Legacy

#Legacy Automaker EV Transitions

[Product Iteration] The Lexus LC 500 coupe and convertible will be officially discontinued after the 2026 model year, marking the end of the naturally aspirated V8 era.

Key Development: LC Series Enters Production Wind-Down

The 2026 model year will be the final version, with production expected to conclude by the end of August. The LC 500h hybrid variant was already discontinued after the 2025 model year. As of December 2025, global cumulative sales have exceeded 15,000 units.

Strategic Foundation: Platform and Powertrain Transition

The LC is built on the GA-L platform, serving as Lexus’s first model based on this architecture. Its 5.0-liter V8 engine will be fully phased out of the Lexus lineup following the LC’s discontinuation. A successor model is anticipated around 2030, potentially sharing a platform with the next-generation Toyota GR SUPRA.
