Leapmotor D99 Launches, Aiming to Challenge the Electric Alphard

[New Vehicle Launch] Leapmotor's first MPV, the D99, has officially launched with a starting price of RMB 249,800, aiming to become the 'Alphard of the electric era.'

On June 25, Leapmotor unveiled the D99, the first MPV based on its D platform, offering both extended-range and all-electric powertrains across six variants, priced between RMB 249,800 and RMB 319,800. CEO Zhu Jiangming emphasized that the vehicle incorporates the full suite of technological capabilities from the D platform and will begin deliveries on July 20.

Key Specifications: Debuting Multiple Advanced Features

The extended-range version features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system and an 80.3 kWh battery pack; the all-electric variant adopts a full-stack 1000V triple-electric system and CATL’s 115 kWh super hybrid battery cells. The vehicle measures 5280/1995/1900 mm in length/width/height, with a wheelbase of 3110 mm.

Strategic Approach: Streamlined Launch Counters 'Launch Event Inflation'

Leapmotor has become the first automaker to respond to Li Xiang’s criticism of 'launch event inflation,' opting for a direct market launch by eliminating redundant segments. Simultaneously, it introduced purchase incentives worth up to RMB 61,279 and four lifetime complimentary warranty services.
