Major New EV Models Launch Concentratedly in July

[New Model Launches] Seven key models, including the BYD Seagull 08 and the Mercedes-Benz all-electric GLC, will debut in July.

Core Development: Seagull 08 Leads Premium Breakthrough

The BYD Seagull 08 will launch on July 2, positioned as the flagship mid-to-large sedan under BYD’s Ocean Network, offering both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants. The BEV version is built on an 800V high-voltage platform, delivering a maximum CLTC range of 905 km and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. The PHEV variant achieves a combined range exceeding 1,000 km. Standard across all trims are the Yunni-A dual-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering (with a turning radius of 4.62 meters), and the advanced God’s Eye B intelligent driving system. Priced around RMB 250,000, it brings executive-level features to a more accessible segment.

Key Data: Only Seven All-New or Next-Gen Models in July

Following an intense first half with nearly 630 new models launched, July enters the traditional low season, with only seven all-new or next-generation models expected to hit the market—though their quality remains high. In addition to the Seagull 08, highlights include the Mercedes-Benz all-electric GLC (launching on July 8) and the XPeng MONA L03, covering mainstream and premium segments priced between RMB 200,000 and RMB 500,000.

Strategic Foundation: Structural Upscaling and Technology Democratization

With its dimensions (5,150 mm length, 3,030 mm wheelbase), refined design, and premium configurations, the Seagull 08 significantly enhances BYD’s competitive edge in the mid-to-large sedan segment, potentially driving a notable increase in the brand’s average selling price and gross margin.
