Hesai Launches World's First 6D Full-Color LiDAR
[Technical Breakthrough] Hesai has unveiled the world's first 6D full-color LiDAR, the ETX, ushering in a new paradigm for perception.
Core Development: LiDAR Enters the Era of "Physical Imaging"
At its 2026 Technology Open Day, Hesai introduced the 6D full-color LiDAR ETX, built on its proprietary PICASSO chip platform. For the first time, it achieves pixel-level on-chip fusion between LiDAR and camera sensors, generating high-quality colored point clouds enriched with color, texture, and depth information.
Key Metrics: Market Leadership and Profitability
According to Yole Group’s 2025 report, Hesai holds a 40% market share in automotive LiDAR, maintaining the global top position for four consecutive years across three segments: automotive LiDAR, ADAS, and L4 autonomy. It has also become the first LiDAR company to achieve full-year GAAP profitability.
Strategic Foundation: Moving Beyond Price Competition to Redefine Perception Logic
Hesai co-founder Kai Sun emphasized that traditional solutions suffer from temporal and spatial misalignment, leading to fragmented data. In contrast, the 6D full-color LiDAR ends the era of "black-and-white" perception, transitioning from geometric sensing to physical imaging, directly addressing the core challenge of semantic understanding in autonomous driving.
