Geely Recalls 1,473 Polestar 4 Vehicles Over Battery Thermal Runaway Risk
[Product Recall] Geely has issued a recall of 1,473 Polestar 4 vehicles due to the risk of battery thermal runaway.
Key Development: Polestar 4 Recalled Due to Abnormally Increased Battery Internal Resistance
Zhejiang Geely Automobile Co., Ltd. announced that, starting May 16, 2026, it will recall certain domestically produced Polestar 4 vehicles equipped with 86 kWh high-voltage traction batteries, manufactured between November 16, 2023, and May 24, 2024, totaling 1,473 units. The defect stems from inconsistencies in the manufacturing of high-voltage traction battery components, which may lead to abnormally increased internal resistance over prolonged use and, in extreme cases, trigger thermal runaway.
Key Details: 1,473 affected vehicles to Receive Free Battery Module Replacement
The recall will be carried out by Polestar Automotive Sales Co., Ltd., with the remedy being a free replacement of all traction battery modules. Until the replacement is completed, owners are advised not to charge their vehicles beyond 70%, and a cloud-based platform will provide thermal runaway early warnings.
