GAC Toyota Reaches 10 Million Vehicle Production Milestone with All-Electric bZ7

[Production Milestone] GAC Toyota has rolled out its 10 millionth vehicle—the all-electric bZ7.

Core Trend: Countercyclical Growth Amid Joint Venture Challenges

Against the backdrop of joint venture market share shrinking from 64% in 2020 to approximately 30% in 2026, and Japanese brands’ share halving to 8.7%, GAC Toyota achieved retail sales of 772,000 units in 2025—one of the few showing year-over-year growth. In the first half of 2026, its sales surpassed 340,000 units, topping the joint venture rankings for three consecutive months.

Strategic Foundation: The “Third Path” of Oil-Electric Synergy

Unlike aggressive electrification or conservative resistance, GAC Toyota has adopted a dual-track oil-electric strategy to stabilize its core business. Among its 10 million vehicles produced, the proportion of new energy vehicles has steadily increased. By designating its milestone vehicle as the all-electric bZ7, GAC Toyota underscores its commitment to electrification. Currently, the new energy penetration rate among joint ventures stands at only 14.5%, far below the 81.4% seen among domestic Chinese brands—GAC Toyota is actively working to close this gap.
