FAW Audi A5L Qiankun Smart Driving Edition Sells Strongly, Pioneering Intelligent ICE Vehicles
[Technology Integration] The FAW Audi A5L Qiankun Smart Driving® Edition is selling strongly, breaking through the intelligent driving bottleneck of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
Core Development: First ICE Vehicle to Achieve Full-Scenario Advanced Smart Driving
Launched in November 2025, the FAW Audi A5L Qiankun Smart Driving® Edition is the first ICE vehicle equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun Smart Driving system, offering assisted driving capabilities across urban roads, highways, and parking scenarios. Starting January 2026, the all-new Q5L will also feature this system as standard across all trims.
Key Statistics: Less Than 2% of ICE Vehicles Offer Smart Driving as Standard
From January to September 2025, nearly 40% of new energy vehicles (NEVs) sold in China came standard with highway navigation-assisted driving, while fewer than 2% of ICE vehicles offered such features—mostly limited to top-tier luxury trims. The A5L Qiankun Edition precisely targets the market gap for consumers seeking both dynamic driving feel and intelligent driving experiences.
Strategic Foundation: Six Years of Joint Development Overcomes Technical Barriers
Huawei and FAW Audi spent six years co-developing solutions to overcome challenges related to computing power, power supply, and sensor layout on ICE platforms, achieving parity in intelligence between electric and fuel-powered vehicles—“intelligence parity across powertrains.” Jin Yuzhi, CEO of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution BU, stated that this breakthrough gives ICE vehicles a “second life.”
