Duan Jianjun Takes the Helm of Volvo Cars Greater China
[Personnel Change] Duan Jianjun succeeds Yuan Xiaolin as President and CEO of Volvo Cars Greater China.
Core Development: Unfinished Reforms Extend from Mercedes-Benz to Volvo
Duan Jianjun officially assumed his new role on May 11, 2026, taking full responsibility for the entire value chain of Volvo Cars Greater China—including R&D, production, sales, and after-sales operations. Prior to this, he spent 13 years at Mercedes-Benz, leading the brand’s annual sales from 218,000 units to the top of the luxury segment, before stepping down in February 2026.
Strategic Foundation: Returning to Origins, Reaffirming Luxury Resolve
Duan Jianjun’s career began in 1992 at a Volvo dealership workshop in China. His return is seen as completing a personal and industry-wide “spatiotemporal loop.” Amidst today’s price wars and market saturation, he emphasizes that “clear-headed resolve” defines true luxury, potentially steering Volvo away from scale-driven competition toward deeper value creation.
