Chuneng Auto's First ET Engineering Vehicle Rolls Off the Line
[New Entrant Enters the Arena] Chuneng Auto's first ET engineering prototype rolled off the production line in Wuhan on July 11, marking its entry into the real-vehicle validation phase.
Core Development: Battery Manufacturer and Dealer Group Take a Critical Step Toward Joint Vehicle Production
Chuneng Auto was jointly established in December 2024 by Chuneng New Energy and Hengxin Automotive Group, each holding a 50% stake, with Dai Deming as the actual controller. The company is headquartered in Hanyang District, Wuhan, with a registered capital of RMB 2 billion.
Key Metrics: 800-Person Team Drives First Engineering Vehicle to Completion
By the end of 2025, the R&D team will expand to approximately 800 people, with core members sourced from Geely and GAC. In May of this year, facilities including the Vehicle Testing Center and Welding & Prototyping Center were successively topped out, laying the groundwork for the ET model’s rollout.
Strategic Foundation: Entering via Engineering Validation to Confront Mass Production Challenges Head-On
The newly launched "ET" stands for Engineering Trial prototype vehicle, which will be used for calibration of the triple-electric systems (battery, motor, and electronic control), structural validation, and extreme high- and low-temperature testing. Although data freezing and component sourcing have been finalized, the company still faces significant challenges ahead in quality consistency, supply chain costs, and painting processes.
