BYD Unveils China's First 4nm Automotive-Grade Intelligent Driving Chip
[Technical Breakthrough] BYD has launched China's first 4nm automotive-grade intelligent driving chip, 'Xuanji A3,' which has already entered mass production.
Core Development: From EV Leader to Key Player in Intelligent Mobility
On May 28, BYD unveiled its self-developed intelligent driving chip, 'Xuanji A3,' in Shenzhen. Built on a 4nm automotive-grade process, it supports L3/L4 autonomous driving, with three chips working in tandem to deliver over 2100 TOPS of computing power.
Key Metrics: Leading in Both Energy Efficiency and Computing Power
Compared to peers, the chip reduces power consumption per unit of computing power by approximately 20%. When paired with BYD’s proprietary algorithms, computing utilization can increase by up to 100%, significantly enhancing real-time processing capabilities in complex scenarios.
Strategic Foundation: Betting Big on the Next Phase of Intelligence
Chairman Wang Chuanfu emphasized: “The first half of electrification was about batteries; the second half of intelligence is about chips.” This move not only addresses external skepticism but also marks BYD’s full-scale pivot toward conquering intelligent driving technology.
